I might even take it a step further and say how some parents approach this is actually a factor in declining attendance. Before gameday Let's talk about when to go. The first few times you take your child to a game, you'll want to choose games where you won't feel inclined to be too glued to the game action so you can pay attention to your child's behavior. Don't go to the marquee primetime rivalry game. For college football and basketball, this means choosing the game against the cupcake opponent. This comes with an added bonus for you in that tickets may be cheaper and the stands won't be too packed. Since tickets are cheaper at these games, splurge a little bit and get some decent seats with a good view of the action. If you want your child to pay some attention to the game, you're not doing yourself any favors sitting in the corner nosebleeds. If it's an outdoor venue, be mindful of seats under shade and where the sun will be during the game. When I go to Reds games, I always at minimum pick seats that face east.
